What is a Relist? And Relisting your Property

Sometimes you need to withdraw a listing from Trade Me before the property has sold. If you intend to put this property back online, you will be actioning a relist. This is not the same as just pausing and restarting the listing.

So there are some important things you need to know about relisting.

What is a "relist"?

A relist is when a property that's already been listed on Trade Me is withdrawn and then listed again. To qualify as a relist rather than a brand-new listing, it must be published again within 45 days of the previous listing's withdrawal date.

If you are using a CRM, you need to confirm with your office how to action a relist on Trade Me through their system.

If a listing is re-published after that window, it's treated as a new listing.

What happens to a relist

• The relist retains its original start date.

• All previous metrics are lost — search views, listing views, watchlisters, and enquiries do not carry over.

Important: It's against our terms and conditions to create a new listing to renew the start date within the 45-day window — this artificially elevates the property and is misleading to buyers and unfair to competing listings.

Packages in the Residential for Sale and New Homes categories are designed to last the "lifetime" of a listing, with weekly boosts to keep it fresh in search — this is part of why the 45-day rule exists.

That being said, if your property listing has been published on site for more than 90 consecutive days, you are permitted to withdraw that listing and launch a new listing, with a new listing date, immediately or any time within the 45-day relist window, to renew or reinvigorate your marketing campaign. (Please be aware that doing this will incur the full new listing and package fees.)

If the previous listing had a package

• Residential for Sale / New Homes: the relist automatically starts as a Base listing at no extra charge, and you're eligible for a 50% discount on the original package.

If the previous listing didn't have a package

The relist starts as a Base listing. You can still add a package:

• Directly through the Trade Me site, or

• Using the Relist with Edits function through your CRM.

You can also add a package later by editing the listing, or by contacting propertyagents@trademe.co.nz.

These rules apply equally to customers on a Partner Agreement.
